Overview

Refers to the next version of the CDC HL7 v2.5.1 Implementation Guide, developed through the IGEG process. This will update and refine national standards for VXU/ACK and QBP/RSP interactions. It builds directly on existing IIS implementations and reflects current community practices. This is an active and central effort for IIS interoperability.

Update on progress of IGEG project and balloting time frames.
Notes
  • Brief background and update on IG 2.0
    • Started about three years ago to get feedback and idea
    • Put together IGEG around 2023
    • First phase - highlighted areas they wanted to see in the IG (n~120 items)
    • Small workgroups to tackle the topics, some addressed by TABs
    • Working on edits to the IG - narrative portion
    • Last month - incorporating feedback into draft IG
    • Working on co-constraint tables
    • Few other things - diagrams and visual aids, example messages, fine tuning
    • Hope to have it done later this fall
    • Next step - get through CDC Clearance and SISC approval for being put up for ballot, balloting the guide in May 2027 (April-May), after HL7 ballot - SVAP - incorporate into regulation
