Overview

Explores the security architecture used by immunization information systems and their external interfaces for HL7 v2, FHIR, SOAP, REST, and other forms of health data exchange. This topic brings together transport security, TLS, server and client identity, authentication, authorization, OAuth 2.0, JWTs, mutual TLS, shared secrets, certificates, credential rotation, and related operational responsibilities. It provides an overarching space for understanding how these mechanisms fit together and for identifying where IIS-specific standards, guidance, modernization, or community coordination may be needed.
