Overview

The Message Quality Evaluation Tool, or MQE, is an open-source application developed to help Immunization Information Systems (IIS) evaluate and improve the quality of incoming immunization data. MQE analyzes HL7 v2 messages, including VXU data feeds from providers, EHRs, pharmacies, and other submitters, and produces web-based reports and metrics that identify data quality issues, validation problems, onboarding concerns, code set errors, vaccine type issues, and other message quality patterns. IIS programs can use MQE as a stand-alone tool or integrate it into IIS workflows to support automated evaluation, quality assurance, submitter onboarding, data feed monitoring, and decisions about whether incoming messages are ready for production processing. As an AIRA Joint Development and Implementation project, MQE supports the IIS community by promoting consistent data quality checks, shared metadata, common reporting, and collaboration across jurisdictions, submitters, and immunization interoperability partners.
