Provider Identifier

Significant resources are needed for every site involved in the immunization ecosystem to identify themselves as an immunizing provider for the site. Currently, every jurisdiction with an IIS has a unique and separate way of identifying immunizing sites. A national strategy and framework for identification could go a long way to streamline and standardize site identifiers. Some have suggested that National Provider Identifier (NP) might be a solution but these have their challenges too as they can identify both people and organizations and not all providers have NPI.
